I specialize in trauma therapy and offer a wellness-centered approach in creating a safe space. In whatever concerns and challenges you want to work through, having a counselor to work alongside you can be an empowering experience.
Hello, my name is Priya Gill (she/her/hers) and I am a trauma focused Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellor (BCACC). I also am a DEI Consultant and work with companies from an intersectional and cultural humility approach. I have a BA in Criminology (hons.) from Simon Fraser University and Master of Counselling Psychology from Adler University, where I focused my studies on evidence based practices for trauma resolution.
As a trauma therapist, I center my work around a compassionate, non-judgmental, intersectional, and anti-oppression philosophy. I also draw upon evidence based approaches grounded in the celebration of each individual's unique capacity for healing. These include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Compassionate Inquiry with Dr. Gabor Mate, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness body-based therapies.
I believe the therapeutic space is sacred and my job as a healer is to walk alongside you on your path to empowerment and healing. I work with individuals who are seeking a safe space to reclaim their voice, connect with their resilience, and empower themselves. Some come to me to explore relationship issues and work on communication and boundary setting. Others come to explore heritage and racial identity - unpacking ancestry, inter generational trauma, and the impact of social systems. Others seek to process gender based violence, sexual violence, trauma, anxiety, depression, and/or substance use.
It is important to me to show up as an authentic human, not only as a therapist. I hope to share with you my sense of humour, and wisdom I have been taught from my education, mentors, colleagues, clients, elders, and loved ones.
